Kate Davidson covered our report, “The Color of Entrepreneurship,” from the angle of businesses opened by women of color, which registered tremendous growth.

For example, the number of businesses with paid employees owned by Asian-American women grew 37.6% in the years during and after the recession, faster than any other demographic group.

Hispanic women owned 26.5% more businesses in 2012 than they did in 2007. And black women increased the number of firms they owned by 20.2% during the five-year period, slightly behind Asian-American men, who owned 22.5% more businesses.

By comparison, the number of businesses owned by white women grew 9.3%, while the number of firms owned by white men rose just 0.3%.
